Our walks are accompanied by qualified guides

VAL GRANDE NATIONAL PARK

Val grande became a National Park in April 1992. This valley is hidden in the pre-alps just behind Lake Maggiore around 100 km from the city of Milan.  The scenery is beautiful woodland and valleys.  In the past woodcutters from other valleys came here. In the last few decades the vegetation has modified and cancelled many paths, giving a special attraction to the area. There are several paths available but careful planning is necessary with in order to go here. Our highly qualified walking guides know these paths very well, and will make these outings interesting.

  VAL STRONA

Val Strona starts in Omegna and rises up to Campello Monti ( m. 1300). In 1256 the Walser people came here from the Visp and Saas valleys over the Simplon Pass to settle here.  Between Piana del Forno and Campello there is a stream which divides the two villages and also the two cultures, the rurual cuture of the Val Strona and the Walser culture of Rimella and Campello.  There are many beautiful views, wonderful walks suitable for everyone.

VAL CANNOBINA

The Cannobina valley starts in the hamlet of Traffiume with its famous gorge.  Cavaglio and the other villages with their narrow streets, snake up the valley. Continuing up the valley we find Gurrone with a beautiful view. On the other side of the valley we can see Crealla and Falmenta.  One can only reach Crealla by foot.  After Cavaglio is Spoccia and high up is Gurro ( originally a Scottish settlement )., and well worth a visit. The women still wear the traditional costumes every day. Finally we reach the end of the valley and the villages of Cursolo and Finero.

  VAL ANZASCA

Macugnaga, at the foot of Mount Rosa, is about one hour from Lake Maggiore.  It is called the “Pearl of Rose “. Between the years 1970 and 1990 Macugnaga was very popular with VIPs who helped the village become famous. In Pestarena, one of the hamlets, there are remains of antique gold mines, and at Borca there is now a museum which is very intersting.

 VAL FORMAZZA -DEVERO-VALLE ANTIGORIO

The old name of the valley “Pomatt” was given by the Walser people. Most of the houses in fact are of  the typical Walser style.  The Formazza valley is considrered to be one of the most important places for langlauf ski-ing. It also offers the possibility the walk high up in the alps. The Devero Lake, also called Codelago, where there is one of the first dams ever built. Here there are farms, grassy fields and fantastic views of the surrounding peaks
